Hoppers provide great sport when trout are feeding near the surface. This pattern uses a striking wine coloured tinsel for the body which has proved irresistible to trout. The ideal pattern when you want a fly to sit right in the surface and still be visable.

Trout start to feed on fry near the surface around late September and into October and this is when this pattern come into it's own. As the name suggests fish this as a point fly with a floating line. It can also be fished on the point and top dropper using the washing line method with small nymph patterns on the other droppers. This is not a fly for retrieving, just cast out, take in the slack and hold on!!
